Three Sisters Reserve in Rancho Palos Verdes, California
Slow down. Look closer. Reflect.
Welcome to Three Sisters Reserve in Rancho Palos Verdes, California, where coastal hills overlook the Pacific Ocean and small signs of life can be found almost everywhere you look.
At first, you may notice the ocean, the cliffs, or the cactus growing along the hillside. But if you stay a little longer, you may begin to see snails tucked between branches, birds resting quietly above the brush, flowers growing among the greenery, and tiny details that are easy to walk right past.
These photographs were created while exploring the reserve and noticing what was living within the landscape. Some things stood out immediately. Others were hidden among branches, thorns, leaves, and dry brush, waiting to be noticed.
This week's Look Closer experience is an invitation to explore the smaller parts of the landscape. As you move through these photographs, look for tiny details. Notice the shapes, textures, colors, animals, plants, and the way life finds a place to grow.
Sometimes the most interesting part of a place isn't the first thing we see.
Sometimes we just need to slow down enough to notice it.
Take a slow breath.
Give your eyes time to wander.
Let's begin.
Look closer. How many snails can you find?
Did you notice how different their shells are?
What caught your eye first?
What details would you have missed from farther away?
Can you find the differences between these two shells?
Even the cactus has details within the details. How many different textures can you find?
Same cactus. Different view. What do you notice now that you didnāt before?
What did you notice first, the bird or the branches?
Look at the lines around the bird. How many shapes can you find?
A little closer. Notice the feathers, feet, eyes, and beak.
Sometimes changing your distance changes what you see. What became clearer?
And sometimes the best thing to do is simply turn around. What might be waiting behind you?
Look closer. Something soft is growing among all those sharp edges.
Sometimes, the wind can mess with the little birds feathers.
Growth doesnāt always happen in comfortable places. What do you notice about the flower and the thorns?
Take a deep breath, do you see a little visitor?
Now look beyond whatās closest to you. What do you notice in the distance?
Look closer. How many tiny blue flowers can you count before you lose track?
Rest is part of nature, too. What would it feel like to be still for just a moment?
Stay a little longer. Notice how much can change without the bird ever leaving the same spot.
And sometimes, when you stop to observe nature⦠nature observes you back.
Take a moment. What details can you see now that you couldnāt see before?
Sometimes changing your view is all it takes to see more.
Did you notice it? Sometimes the smallest thing can be easy to miss.
Look closer. How many colors can you find in a bird that first looks brown?
Now look farther. How many different layers can you see between you and the ocean?
⨠Before You Leave...
Did you...
ā Take one last look.
ā What is one detail you noticed that you might have missed before?
ā Take a slow breath.
ā Remember that animals notice us, too. We can watch them quietly and give them space.
ā Keep looking closer. There is always more to see.
Every week I head into nature with my camera, never knowing exactly what I'll find.
Sometimes it's wildlife.
Sometimes it's a waterfall.
Sometimes it's something hidden in plain sight.
Thank you for slowing down and exploring with me today.
I'll see you on the next trail.
The world has always been beautiful. Thank you for taking a moment to notice it.
If one of these places spoke to you, you can bring it home.
Not every path is open.
Sometimes life places obstacles directly in front of us. We may have to pause, adjust, move around them, or see the path differently than we expected.
Find a Way captures a small bird resting among a maze of branches, seemingly surrounded by barriers yet completely at home within them. Nature reminds us that an obstacle does not always mean stop. Sometimes it simply asks us to look again.
There may not be a straight path forward.
But there is still a way.

Not everything that protects us has to stay closed forever.
A cactus survives by adapting. It grows its armor, holds onto what it needs, and learns how to live in difficult conditions. And then, from all of those sharp edges, something soft begins to bloom.
Softness Still Grows is a reminder that protecting yourself and opening yourself to life can exist at the same time. Healing does not require us to erase the parts of ourselves that helped us survive. Sometimes growth looks like becoming soft again while still honoring the strength that carried us here.
This metal print is perfect for therapy and counseling spaces, wellness centers, bedrooms, meditation spaces, offices, and homes where a reminder of healing, vulnerability, resilience, and new beginnings can bring comfort and hope.

Not every season makes it easy to grow.
There may be sharp edges around us. Parts of our story may have already ended. We may have learned to protect ourselves along the way.
And still, something new can begin.
Still, I Bloom captures a cactus preparing to flower among its thornsāa reminder that difficult surroundings do not decide what we are capable of becoming. We don't have to wait until everything is perfect, painless, or certain before allowing ourselves to grow.
Sometimes the most beautiful thing we can do is bloom anyway.
This metal print is perfect for therapy and counseling spaces, wellness centers, bedrooms, offices, healthcare environments, meditation spaces, and homes where its message of resilience, hope, perseverance, and new beginnings can offer a quiet reminder:
You have been through hard things.
And still, you bloom.

Not everything grows in easy places.
Some things are built for wind, dry seasons, sharp edges, and changing conditions. They don't spend their lives wishing for a softer environment. They adapt to the one they're in.
Made for This is a reminder that strength doesn't always look polished or effortless. Sometimes it looks complicated. Sometimes it carries scars and sharp edges. Sometimes it grows in every direction.
And still, it grows.
You don't have to look like anyone else's version of thriving to know that you are.
This metal print is perfect for therapy and counseling spaces, wellness centers, offices, healthcare environments, entryways, and homes where its message of resilience, adaptation, self-acceptance, and trusting your own way of growing can serve as a grounding reminder.
